Nail Art

Some months back (August to be exact), you went to my stationary drawer where I stock all my nice stuff which I would like you NOT to touch. You got hold of my metallic glitter pens and wonder of wonder…you used them to do some nail art !! Your imagination sure is great (keep it that way), when you were done you came up to me and showed me your hand, I was laughing and then I asked you what you used and you brought out my pen-set….naughty brat !!

Halloween goes pufff….

You had your school Halloween party today, and were all excited to get dressed as Spider Man….but you had a mild fever at 4 in the morning, and then we did not bother to wake you up for school.

You are very upset that you did not attend the school party, so I promised you to have one at home tonight with Papa being Shrek, me being the scary witch and you will be your chose Spidey…

Get well soon baby, your cough is worrying me….

You have Halloween celebrations at school this Friday and you said you want to wear Optimus Prime costume !! I have convinced you to wear the SpiderMan one and you are as of now convinced !!!

You are onto something else now :(

Aada, it was just 2 months back that we celebrated your birthday and we gifted you your much demanded truck Mack from the movie ‘cars’. When you got it you were very very very happy, you would wake up with it, eat with it, play with it, sleep with it…do endless rounds around the house with it….

But just this month things have changed to drastically, Mack now lies broken (he’s a lego-block toy) in your toy-room, and you don’t even look at him. And this has happened ever since the day Papa showed us Transformers !!

Now you eat, sleep, talk, walk, play, imagine all things Transformers !! And have been pestering us to get you Optimus Prime !!

Here’s to the good old days of Mack….

Diwali and thereafter

Pillu, you had your Diwali break starting on Friday untill the following Monday. We all (especially me) had huge plans for the festival. All the ‘faral’ was getting made on schedule, Mangala aunty was cleaning up the house, I had made arrangements for all the ‘abhyangsnans’ that we were to have, til-oil, badam-oil, fragrant ‘utna’ and all…your ‘killa’ was ready, Papa was coming back from work and working on the clay Shivaji, Mavla and Gavlan….we were just going to borrow the animals from your toy room….so basically we were all set to have a grand festival of lights.

I fell sick in all this and just could not get myself to wake up on Narak Chaturthi day, I sent up a quick prayer to the Almighty that I was sorry and that how could I get up in all that agony of fever , cough and cold !!

The Lakshmi Puja went off well, actually it started off on a not-so-nice note when we realised that Papa had not found any coconut in the shops (most of them were closed anyways) and that the guard uncle had forgotten to bring us some Mango leaves, ….

But fret not, your mumma is very resourceful, and managed to ask Menon aunty to pick up one coconut on her way back home !! Papa also called the guard house and we got our mango leaves too !!

Meanwhile you are doing 3-letter words at school and are trying to read. We are using ’starfall’ a lot these days.

You also have a Diwali hangover and have not gone to school yet !!

Tomorrow you had better go….

Love

pearls of your wisdom

wisdom….it’s a relative thing I feel….one can be wise as a child and in more ways than one you do demonstrate that you are very wise…

for example:

yesterday when I told you that I had to attend a meeting (the meeting was for deciding some things about our condo’s Diwali Party); you promptly asked me “mumma tu taxi uncle la bolavlas ka?” (mumma, did you call taxi uncle?); you thought I had to go out to my office to attend the meeting….that is very wise for your age.

the day before that we all were chatting and having a good time in bed and you said ‘toh bappa ahe na pravasvati’…..papa and me could not understand what you were referring to….we understood that you were referring to some God as you mentioned ‘bappa’ in your sentence…..after asking you to repeat it for a few times, the light bulb finally shone in my head and I understood that you were referring to ‘Saraswati’ the Goddess of wisdom, knowledge etc.

We are still laughing over your ‘Pravasvati’ !!

1st Parent Teacher Meeting (PTM)

Date: 26th September 2009, it’s a Saturday.

Your name is first on the list, and we were called in at 9 in the morning (of course).  So we got up really early and all of us had bath, breakfast and then we were off to your school. As we entered school your class teacher, Teacher Usha peeped out of the classroom (did she want to see if we were coming…I don’t know).

There were 3 chairs arranged outside your classroom and I asked you to sit there as you were not allowed to enter your class with your parents for your (our) first PTM !!! Papa and I found this very ridiculous…

Your teacher showed us your class books, and we flipped through your English, Maths, Social ***(something), your art work in the scrap-book, your daily activity folder etc. She even handed over your report card, I thought we would be allowed to take it home with us so I did not read it in detail (turns out Papa also did not read it).

Teacher Usha told us how you are a bright student, and that you like to work in groups and are equally good at individual independent work. She said that we as parents were doing a fantastic job at home and that it showed at school through you. This I think she said to just get us off track and diving into happy-land.

Papa had a very ‘ i am proud of my son’ look on his face, and I was just about trying to look and sound like your mom !! I was nervous…really I was.

There were some pointers I had taken from your Y’Kidz report card, and had tried to memorize them so that I could ask your teacher all about them…and to my utter shame I managed to remember just one point and that was ‘what is Aaditya’s activity or subject @ school?’ to which Teacher Usha replied that you like coloring, drawing, maths and story telling.

She also told us that despite all your absent days you are at par with the rest of the class. She was referring to the one month period when there was a lot of H1N1 scare going on and I was not sending you to school. I told her that during that time I was making sure you did your letter and number tracings, your drawings etc.  I also told her that this year I just want you (as in you, Aaditya) to like the idea of a formal school, to understand what it is to take instructions from a teacher, to make friends in a class as large as this one. You were used to much smaller class sizes before this.

She then asked if we had anything to say to her in terms of feedback, I told her that she is doing a great job with you, and that since she is your teacher I am very relaxed and that I have no worries.

She asked us to sign the card and Papa asked me if I wanted to do it, and I said to Papa ‘you do it this time’ !! and your proud Papa signed it nicely and handed it back to your teacher.

We came out, and were thankful to God almighty to see you still sitting on that chair, quickly took you by the hand and then you wanted to show us your playground and your ‘tunnel slide’ and the swings.

Papa was horrified to see the swings, as they have concrete under them and none of them are the bucket-seats which are suitable for kids like you of small frame, worse is that the wall is so close to those swings….you were then instructed by Papa to not play on the swings at all.

On our way home, Papa and I told you all about the conversation inside and we told you how proud we were of you and that we loved you etc etc…

Love you babdi !!

Your second fall @ school

Today when we came home after school you showed me the little scratch on your left knee. I asked you how you fell down and you replied ‘I was only running and running…and then I fall down in the play ground’.

I asked if anyone had pushed you, you said ‘no’.

I asked if you were running behind someone, and fell down in the process, you answered ‘that girl…that kg-1-lily girl…she was running behind me’ !!!

You are very much like me, you like to let everyone know that you got hurt and how you got it. You like to wear the mark/bruise like a medal, just like mumma used to do when she was a little girl.

Love you bubu…

End of 2nd term

Today the 18th of September, marked the end of your 2nd term in school.

The school had its Project Day, a day where each class is given a theme, and students have to make projects accordingly.

Your class theme was fruits, and the class was decorated with fruits made and painted in lovely colours.

We had to walk through standard 3, whose theme was continents, the 2nd standard was all about transportation, we skipped standard 1 as we were getting very eager to come and see your class, and besides that Papa had to go back to office.

We loved your Project day and felt very proud to see all the work done.

You did not understand much of what was happening, but I guess you were delighted to see mumma and papa together when we came to pick you up.

I have clicked some snaps with my phone, but will upload them later…

Love you babes
