Marathi

I was doing something on Papa’s farm….(now I help out Papa when Papa has a busy schedule).

Suddenly the page goes blank….as the net connection decides to take a break..

Aadu: Mumma tujha farm ‘bomble ‘

The word is actually ‘bomballa’ meaning ‘to go wrong’

I was laughing like mad…as though I had an Laugh-attack !!!

You poor thing did not know what was wrong with Mumma !!

I love your Marathi….

Your favorite flower

any guesses??????????

I was sowing some white roses on my farm on farmville…you ask me…

Aadu: Mumma what is that flower? Is it white rose?

Me: Yes beta, it is white rose, it is a beautiful flower…it is some people’s favorite flower…what is your favorite flower??

Aadu: Sunflower !!!!

I seriously had no idea that you would have a favorite flower….I thought you would say ‘Mumma I don’t know’ or something to that effect !!

So glad that you proved me wrong !!

I can’t wait to grow up…

I was in the kitchen and you come and ask

You: Mumma how many old I am?

Me: You are 4 years old baby.

You: No I am not 4 years old, I am 5 years old!! My hair is looking in the mirror

so I am 5 years old !!

The mirror at the Dressing Table is at a height of some inches more than 3 feet…so you have to stand on your toes to see the top of your crop in it…So now that you can see it you claim to be a 5 year old !!

Why do you kids want to grow up so fast?? Believe me your world is much better than ours…and you will one day realise that ‘bachpan hi achha tha bhai’ !!

What works for you

Today Swati Maushi called to say that she will come over to our place. I told you that you will get to play with Sarthak Dada, this got you all excited and you ate your breakfast, mid-day snack, lunch all like a very good boy !!!

Best of all you cleared up your toy-room so that you ‘the boys’ can play nicely there.

I peeped in to your room while you were putting all the puzzle pieces into their bags, you were putting away all your activity books, all the lego blocks, the cars etc. I am VERY impressed at the way you took ownership of your stuff and your room and made it look nice :) I am soooooooo proud of you.

After you finished the room you told me ‘Mumma tu Sarthak Dada la phone kar, ani saag Aadu chya house la ye, play karayla’.

Hmmmm we’re still waiting for them ….and we both are so sleepy…wonder what we’re going to do now !!

But all said and done I am going to ask Swati to bring over Sarthak every week just to get you to clean up your room !!!

What ever works for you my suntukli…

Role play

One of your/our favorite activity is to role play and even in that we love role-reversal…meaning….you get to be mumma while I get to be Bubu.

I love the way you treat me, love me and care for me during this role-play. You make a very good pretend-mumma :) One day I am sure you will make a great Dad.

The other day (the day you bunked school) we pretended to be people who were throwing rocks at one another !! The rocks were made with mixing up most of the play dough colors (much to my chagrin). We had a great time hitting each other with these colorful rocks !!

On days you pretend to be Papa, and then you show me how Papa (when he is not in his best moods) scolds you for small things and then showers you with love almost spoiling you to bits and then also giving in to your little-est demands.

Sometimes I think you will get that first Oscar for Best Actor to India …. you are very good at putting up acts and with the evidence of these numerous role plays I am sure you will make your mark as an actor should you choose to be one.

Love you Bubu !!

Wedding plans

So here we are eagerly awaiting the dawn of tomorrow morning….why? – you ask…

It’s my son’s wedding day !!! That’s why !!!

The plans were finalized over lunch this afternoon; we have decided to keep it short n simple n sweet n cute n coochikooo …..

The groom: my son Aadu

The bride: a very cute no..no…sorry beautiful classmate named A***hi.

The exchange: of one small mangal-shutra

The icing on the cake: The groom wants to dance !!!

I have already seen the live practice of the D-day dance and I have to admit that the adage about ’standing on one foot’ or ‘eka payavar tayar’  is very true in the case of my eager-beaver son.

So pack your best clothes and jewels, and come over to our place.

Venue: Maybe our home or better still…school !!

Time: Snack time !!

See you all there :)

Please bring Ben 10 toys and Transformer toys !!

PS: me the soon to-be-MIL, while inviting the maid for the wedding mentioned to her: Till now I had one bum to wash…after tomorrow there will be two !!!! Ha ha ha ha ha

My Nanaji

My Nanaji, we all addressed him as ‘Dada’. He used to tell his kids that when ever they got a new set of clothes, they must show it to the Gods first. ‘Devala Dakhava’ as he said in Marathi.

I don’t know how, but I recalled this today as I was getting Aadu to try on his new trousers…I told him to go and show them to ‘Bappa’. He went in and this is what he said.

Aadu: Bappa, this is my new pant, thank you sooooo much…..OK bye !!

I had not asked him to say ‘thank you’…..they say a child’s heart is pure & this incident only fortifies this statement.

What does this mean??

Today as I brushed my teeth, you peep into the bathroom and say:

Mumma are you brushing your teeth?

I nod my head in agreement.

You: Mumma you must go faster than your brush….

What does that mean????

My Little Chef

Today as I was making Matar-Pulao, you came into the kitchen & I showed you the pack of frozen Matar (peas), we played with it for a while…the cold packet…was fun !!

Then I gave you some to eat, and you said you want to play with it. This was because you call peas – ‘green ball’ !! and tried to bounce it on the floor !!

After that you took your stool & stood near me and took a green elaichi (cardamom) & stuffed a pea into it !! What an innovative dish !!

You saw that the entire matar (pea) was difficult to stuff inside the Cardamom, so you asked me for a knife, I gave you a butter-knife. You went about your cutting & stuffing….

I was done with my work, so came into the living room, you come running in & say ‘Mumma can  I have some fire for my cooking’ !!

Love you my little chef
